Basic Structure

The structure of this model will differ slightly from the previous one. In addition to the standard nodes included in the peanut butter model, this one will also include some merges.

Based on the video, each molding and baking line is capable of producing 5,000 individual cookies per hour, while the packaging step is capable of an astonishing rate of 3,000 completed cookies per minute. This would translate to over 70 molding and baking lines for the entire factory. For simplicity, we will model only two of these lines.

As before, the first set of nodes to define are the buffers. We will start with an unlimited supply of ingredient mixture and end with an unlimited supply of packaged cookies. We will also place a buffer for baked cookies on each of the baking lines after the baking process has completed and another for completed cookies before packaging.

Next, we will need to set up the constraints for the model. Based on the video, there are several steps to the process. The first step is the mixer, which takes the ingredient mix and converts it to cookie dough. The dough is then pressed into cookie shapes by the molding machine, each of which is capable of producing 5,000 individual cookies per hour. From there, the cookies are baked in an oven for several minutes. The baked cookies are then filled with cream by a cream pump and two individual cookies are assembled into the final cookie sandwich. These assembled cookies are then grouped together and placed into trays. The final step before packaging is quality control, where the cookies are inspected. They are then packaged and ready to be sent to customers.
