Buffers

On this screen, the user will define the capacity and inventory level for each buffer in the model.

Buffers are used to store material at various points in the process being modeled.

The Buffer node can represent:

  • starting material

  • ending produced material

  • in-process surge or buffer

When you build a model, the links section should always start and end with Buffers.

Beginning Buffers typically are the starting node of the structure. Beginning Buffers typically have a large Capacity & Initial Level representing the amount of material available.

Ending Buffers typically are the ending node of the structure. Ending Buffers typically have a large (or infinite) Capacity with the Initial Level set to 0.
